Last fall, I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful couple, Chia En & David, while photographing their pre-wedding session. Along the way, I also got to know their most lovable family member—Remi their adorable pup. Finally, on March 16, 2025, they celebrated one of the most important days of their lives. But this day wasn’t just about the two of them—it was a joyous gathering for family, friends, and even their furry companions!

This was no ordinary wedding—it was a pet-friendly celebration! Guests were encouraged to bring their beloved pets to witness this special moment. The 2nd floor even featured a dedicated dog-friendly area, complete with plenty of space for the pups to roam freely. To top it all off, there was a special doggy buffet, ensuring that our fur babies could join in on the fun and feast as well!

What do they say
about the shooting?

It took us such a long, long time to finally find Yun! A photographer with both an incredible sense of aesthetics and strong skills. From our pre-wedding photos to the wedding day itself, we entrusted everything to Yun. She even traveled all the way from Taitung without ever once complaining or asking for sympathy—she never showed a hint of fatigue.

For the pre-wedding shoot, Yun took the time to carefully discuss what kind of feeling we wanted. At first, I was worried that it might be rude to request inspiration from a certain Hawaiian photographer’s work, but Yun not only did thorough research in advance, she also prepared exercises for us. One of her ideas was to have us write letters to each other beforehand—a brilliant way to help a couple like us, who usually avoid showing affection in public, open up naturally. On the shooting day, she guided us with poses, played music to set the mood, and what I thought would be an awkward experience turned out to be filled with the most natural smiles and genuine emotions. The photos were exactly how we imagined them (which was the most important thing).

For the wedding day photography, all we requested were a few key shots and an overall tone. Aside from that, our only wish was that she could capture the details of the decorations, every guest, and even every guest’s dog. Yun came with a sweet assistant that day, and when we later looked through the photos, we were beyond satisfied. My mother-in-law and my husband’s older brother—both hobbyist photographers themselves—were deeply impressed with the results.

My mother-in-law even asked us to pass this message on to Yun:

“Yesterday, I received the wedding photos, and each frame felt like a scene from a film. The way the photographer captured everything—calm, natural, and presented as if life itself were a movie—is exactly the atmosphere I love. Please tell the photographer: My own wedding and banquet photos were never this beautiful. Thank you so, so much. Especially the one of me singing and dancing on stage—it made me feel so joyful and happy. Thank you, Yun, for pressing the shutter and freezing all these beautiful moments, for documenting the happiest time of our lives.”

I truly believe being a photographer is such hard work. After watching a friend’s behind-the-scenes wedding video, we realized just how much effort goes into it: the photographer is present at every important moment—squatting, standing, leaning, tiptoeing, running—contorting into all sorts of uncomfortable positions, all while reminding us when to smile or move, just to capture those fleeting moments. At a wedding, where so many vendors are working together, the photographer has to manage all kinds of dynamics—asking people to wait, step aside to the left or right, or move out of frame—just so they can create the images the couple envisions. It’s truly not easy!

And for couples who care about their pets being included—both our pre-wedding and wedding day shoots featured lots of dogs. Yun was so thoughtful with them, finding ways to get the dogs to look at the camera. During the farewell at the end of the banquet, she even held a tub of treats in her hands, calling out each dog’s name tirelessly. It was so much effort, and we’re deeply grateful!
